King Faisal Hospital, located in the heart of Kigali, Rwanda, stands as a leading medical facility undergoing significant expansion and modernization. Under the leadership of Dr. Edgar Kalimba, Deputy CEO, the hospital embarks on a transformative journey from 2019 to 2020, focused on elevating its capacity, infrastructure, and healthcare delivery.
The project spans approximately 40,000 m. of site area, with a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of around 20,000 m.. The development follows a phased masterplan approach. The first phase introduces a newly constructed Outpatient Department (OPD) Building covering approximately 5,000 m.. The second phase centers on the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing Main Block.
A multidisciplinary approach drives the project, encompassing architecture, interior and landscape design, traffic planning, medical planning, and all engineering disciplines. It includes the production of detailed construction drawings and Bills of Quantities (BOQ), as well as full project management and on-site supervision throughout the construction process.
Functionally, King Faisal Hospital is enhanced to accommodate 220 main hospital beds, including 30 beds within VIP Clinics. The facility integrates critical healthcare services such as Accident & Emergency (A+E), Radiology, Inpatient Pharmacy, Laboratory, Oncology Clinic, Surgical Theatres, Intensive Care Units (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Maternity wards.
